Choosing A WordPress Hosting Provider
WordPress is a self-hosted solution. This means it’s a bit more hands-on than other popular platforms, in terms of setup. But it also allows for more freedom and flexibility to make your own choices – choices that will impact your site’s speed, security, and more.
There are a number of companies who offer WordPress hosting solutions (including certain domain name registrars, and companies that actually specialize in other aspects of the web), but we whittled the field down to our top three for you.
How did we choose? (read more…)
Build Your Own WP’s Recommended WordPress Hosting Providers
SiteGround is one of the largest independently owned hosting companies. They boast fast and friendly customer service (we can confirm this to be true!), ease of use, fantastic uptime, and great prices for a new business on a budget. If you’re looking to host multiple websites, consider one of their GrowBig or GoGeek plans. You can get started with SiteGround for as little as $3.95/month!
WP Engine is one of the most popular hosting companies out there – possibly because they’re partly owned by Automattic (the company behind WordPress), meaning you can trust that their technology is both specific and reliable. Some hosts cater to other platforms, but WP Engine is focused solely on WordPress site owners – and they’ve been in the game for almost a decade, with no signs of slowing down.
Kinsta is a managed WordPress hosting provider powered by Google Cloud Platform. They use cutting-edge technology, and are set up to be scalable to any sized company or individual. If your site will be heavily trafficked, with high-level security needs, consider Kinsta’s rock-solid platform with 24/7 support to ensure you never lose a valuable lead or conversion. Kinsta boasts tons of other features
…Well, for starters, we’d never recommend something we wouldn’t use ourselves – and we have, at some point in time, used all of the providers below, and can speak to the quality of their service, as well as the level of support their customer care teams provide.
We’ve also worked on hundreds of client sites over the years, and have dealt with some nightmare – hosts with outdated platforms that were unable to handle updated themes and platforms, situations where files were corrupted and clients were experiencing the dreaded “white screen of death” – you name it, we’ve likely seen it! So that ruled out a good portion of the hosts on the market.
Finally, we know that many of you are completely new to this world – so 2 of our recommend providers, WP Engine and Kinsta, exclusively offer managed solutions, wherein they handle the bulk of the technical work of maintaining and securing your site for you. They also host your site on its very own server. For those of you on a budget, we recommend SiteGround (the provider we use to host this very site). They’re so great, the official WordPress.org site recommends them as well!
